In a surprise move, Corvallis City Manager Mark "Shep" Shepard threw his hat into an already crowded ring in the race for Mayor. Since the window for actually being on the ballot has already closed, his will be a write-in campaign. "I'm a naturally modest guy, so I never considered running myself, but Councilors Cadena and Mayer convinced me it was the right thing to do," he said in a press conference on Friday. "I've been ruling by proxy for years, so this should greatly increase the efficiency of city government. It just makes sense."
